What We Do
Vision 2060 explores important questions affecting human well-being and humanity’s future by bringing together research, evidence, ideas, technology, and human perspectives.
What we learn contributes to the continuing development of the Humanity-Based World Model (HBW) — a living framework for exploring how society, technology, institutions, communities, and other systems can better serve humanity.
Our work develops through four connected activities:

Explore
We identify important human needs, challenges, opportunities, and questions that may shape humanity’s future.
Exploration begins with questions rather than predetermined answers. We look across areas such as human well-being, technology, institutions, communities, the environment, and future generations to identify issues that deserve deeper examination.
Research
We examine evidence, existing knowledge, emerging technologies, ideas, and alternative approaches relevant to the questions being explored.
Research helps us understand what is already known, where uncertainty remains, and what new developments may change the way we think about human well-being and humanity’s future.
The objective is not simply to collect information, but to make relevant knowledge easier to explore and use in developing the Humanity-Based World Model (HBW).
Engage
We invite people to contribute their perspectives, ideas, knowledge, experience, and questions through surveys, discussions, and other forms of participation.
Different people may see the same issue differently. These perspectives can help identify areas of agreement, disagreement, uncertainty, and questions that deserve deeper exploration.
Participation helps ensure that the Humanity-Based World Model (HBW) develops not only through research and technology, but also through the experiences and perspectives of people.
Develop
We use what is learned through exploration, research, and participation to progressively develop and refine the Humanity-Based World Model (HBW).
Ideas and approaches can be examined, compared, tested, and reconsidered as new evidence, technologies, circumstances, and perspectives emerge.
The framework is therefore never assumed to be final. It is designed to learn, adapt, and evolve over time while keeping humanity and human well-being at the center.
A Continuous Process
Explore, Research, Engage, and Develop are connected parts of an ongoing process.
What we explore can lead to new research. Research can raise new questions. Participation can reveal different perspectives or gaps in understanding. What we learn can then help develop and refine the Humanity-Based World Model (HBW).
As new evidence, technologies, circumstances, and perspectives emerge, the process can continue:

This allows Vision 2060 to remain a living initiative—one that can evolve as humanity learns more.

The Humanity-Based World Model can examine many interconnected areas affecting human life and humanity’s future. Current areas of exploration include:
Human Well-Being
What helps people live meaningful, fulfilling, healthy, secure, and dignified lives?
Technology for Humanity
How can AI, automation, robotics, and other technologies advance while serving human well-being and protecting humanity from serious risks?
Systems & Institutions
How can institutions and other systems evolve to better serve people as society, knowledge, and technology change?
Planet & Future Generations
How can today’s progress remain sustainable for the planet and preserve opportunities for future generations?
These areas are not intended to define fixed boundaries. New questions and areas of exploration can emerge as the Humanity-Based World Model develops.
How You Can Participate
Vision 2060 is intended to grow through participation. Different perspectives, knowledge, experiences, and questions can help identify what deserves further exploration.
As Vision 2060 develops, additional ways to contribute ideas, knowledge, research, experience, and collaboration can be introduced.
